Why journaling works (the actual science)

The benefits of journaling in this method have nothing to do with venting and everything to do with evidence. Bandura’s research identifies mastery experiences — small, witnessed wins — as the strongest builder of self-belief, and a dated line is a mastery experience made visible. Bem’s self-perception work shows we infer who we are from watching our own behavior; the log is that behavior, on record. If you have wondered how to start journaling without staring at a blank page: this is the answer. One line. Fifteen seconds. Evidence, not essays.
